Very brief article on transportation funding in the state of Idaho: the Idaho Trucking Association introduced a measure to increase the gas tax by 6 cents a gallon over the next three years. Not only would it be better for their industry but it’s also necessary for them to start tackling their estimated $262 million a year backlog of road and bridge projects. Idaho Governor C.L. Otter feels that this issue will not be resolved in 2014, his own transportation plan was killed in the state Legislature in 2009 and he is currently studying the issue more before initiating any big measures.
