Caltrans Considers Widening Hwy. 101 to Ease Congestion

Highway 101 to be widened for toll lanes at a cost of $505 million

Daily Post » A plan that calls for expanding a nine-mile stretch from Palo Alto to Redwood City would make four lanes available to all cars and a fifth lane for carpoolers and single-occupant drivers who pay a toll. To accomplish the expansion, Caltrans would have to seize DMV property, narrow some frontage roads and move sound walls in Belmont, Burlingame and San Mateo.
