The Center for Neighborhood Technology recently released a report that found approximately 6 billion gallons of purified drinking water are wasted each day in the U.S. due to deteriorating water infrastructure, such as aging pipes that leak, and water mains that crack or break. The American Water Works Association estimates it will cost $500 billion to replace and repair existing water infrastructure.
