Border wall replacement work begins in California

Texas toll projects could be delayed to fund interstate

Dallas News » Funds to improve three highway logjams are being used as leverage to persuade the Texas Transportation Commission to build LBJ East, the 10.8 miles of Interstate 635 between Interstate 30 and Central Expressway that has been deemed the region’s top transportation project. The three potentially endangered projects are the Interstate 30 bridge over Lake Ray Hubbard. Interstate 35E between LBJ and the Denton County line and U.S. Highway 80 east toward Kaufman County.

Officials break ground on 1.6 billion gallon recycled water reservoir in south Orange County

The Orange County Register » Once completed, the Trampas Canyon Reservoir will store enough excess treated water in the winter months to meet irrigation demands in the region during the summer. It will also be the largest surface water reservoir in south Orange County, with the capacity to hold more than one-half of the recycled water the district will generate from its nearby Chiquita Water Reclamation Plant, officials said.

Commerce secretary says Trump is considering gas tax

CNBC » U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross on Thursday confirmed that President Donald Trump is open to raising federal fuel taxes, saying it’s logical to charge drivers for road improvements. Three years ago, Ross denounced calls to raise the gas tax, saying it would hurt the middle class. The idea has divided Republicans, many of whom worry that raising the federal fuel levy will offset the benefit of recently passed GOP tax cuts.
