President Obama signed a Presidential memo regarding the use of public-private partnerships (P3s) for transportation infrastructure. This new initiative known as the “Build America Investment Initiative” creates a dedicated office within the US Department of Transportation to help coordinate and facilitate P3s. This announcement comes as Congress continues to fail to find a long-term solution for funding national transportation infrastructure.
