Canada’s federal infrastructure department, known as Infrastructure Canada, has awarded a public-private partnership (P3) contract worth an estimated $5 billion to the Signature on Saint-Lawrence Group, a private consortium, for the construction of the new Champlain Bridge in Montreal. The consortium is led by SNC-Lavalin, a firm charged with corporate fraud and bribery that allegedly occurred after the firm was awarded a $1.3 billion contract in 2010 to build the McGill University Health Centre, a superhospital in Montreal.
