INDOT acts to keep Illiana Expressway Alive View Larger Image The Times of Northwest Indiana » The Indiana and Illinois Department of Transportation have agreed to keep the Illiana Expressway alive, a 47-mile tollway connected Interstate 65 in Indiana to Interstate 55 in Illinois. The Illiana Expressway is currently estimated to cost $1.5 billion. Illinois has suspended work on the project while Indiana moves forward, purchasing land and making changes to the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) following a judge’s ruling that the statement is incomplete.
