Fort Worth’s Panther Island bridges a year behind schedule View Larger Image Star-Telegram » Construction on the $910 million Trinity River Vision project is delayed at least one year due to design changes for the steel-reinforced concrete piers that will support the bridges and a miscalculation in the amount of steel that would be needed. The project design firm declined to be interviewed. The three bridges are to be constructed on dry land before the Trinity River is rechanneled under them to create an 800-acre island with a river-walk atmosphere in downtown Fort Worth, Texas. Bridge design changes have been in progress for nearly a year and a new timeline will be announced when bridge work resumes.
