Another group has given its support for switching from the current gas-tax funding mechanism to charging individuals for miles that they drive. The Center for American Progress (CAP) is a non-partisan educational group that studies numerous issues that the US needs to address and ways this can be done successfully. CAP feels that funding transportation projects this way would not only bring in more revenue than the gas tax but would also ensure that electric vehicles and more efficient cars contribute their fair share.
